I'd like to determine how much energy some of my appliances use. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm thinking there's got to be an item that I plug in between the power outlet and my appliance that will tell me how much it is currently or has used. Is there?

There are several plug-in electricity monitors currently on the market.

Some examples:

... or just Google "plug-in meter" for many more!

Also, many appliances state how much energy they consume.

Make sure you take care of "low hanging fruits" first - that is, a more efficient refrigerator and air-conditioner are going to have a bigger impact than a more efficient TV.
